It’s taken me quite a long time to get to this point and start a blog! I’ve been thinking a lot about doing this over the years but never garnered enough courage to do it until starting my own Healing Touch and Herbalism practice over the past few months! With this blog, I intend to show up often with lots of educational information about biofield (energy) medicine, Herbal and Holistic medicines, mixed in with my own thoughts, interests and life hacks weaved into the posts. I hope that you all enjoy my blog posts and benefit from the information that I provide. If ever there are any questions or concerns, you are always welcome to contact me at info@brahmalokahealingarts.com so we can discuss further!
Because I’m a newbie at blogging and for those of you who want to know the WOAH-man behind the curtain of Brahmaloka Healing Arts LLC, I’ll share a bit about my story to lay the grounds for future reference. Where to begin? How did I get into Healing Touch and Herbalism? Why did I want to start a business in the Healing Arts? As with most of us, our stories are very non-linear and complex and it’s not always a simple straight answer. And my story is an ongoing process…but I’ll try my best!
I’ve been on a healing journey of my own for quite some time now. I am on a quest, so to speak, of remembering who I truly am and why I am here, on this planet, at this point in time. I’m asking the big life questions. I’m becoming more conscious of the thoughts that I think, the ways in which I move through the world, the food that I allow myself to consume, the media that I allow myself to consume, and the relationships that surround me. I’m becoming more loving, more forgiving, and less judgmental. It’s all a process, and mine started with a tumor 9 years ago.
This tumor, though a scary diagnosis at the time, was a blessing in disguise. It showed me the need to re-evaluate my life in ways that I never thought of before. I became aware of how foods affected me, and eliminated dairy from my diet and ate less meat and less sugar. I dove more deeply into my mindfulness and Metta meditation practices. I organized my home and closets and gave away a lot of things that I no longer needed. There was even a cleansing of toxic people in my life. My partner and I recommitted to one another and we gave up the idea of each other being completely independent and started living the motto of “interdependence.” I joined Toastmasters and threw myself into uncomfortable situations so that I would grow stronger from them. You know the saying “Feel the fear and do it anyway?” That’s EXACTLY what I did. I was previously letting fear rule my world, which held me back and kept me playing ‘small.’ And from the moment of my diagnosis onward, I wanted to choose love, not fear! No more hiding!
This led me to working at a facility which connected me to many alternative healers, including Sue Kagel, my Healing Touch mentor. My first Healing Touch session ever was actually given to me by someone else at that facility, but after feeling the sense of bliss and relaxation after a 30-min first-time session and everyone at work wondering what changed in me, I was sold. I wanted to learn everything there was to know about Healing Touch and energy therapy. I wanted to know why it worked for me. And if it could work for others! So, I started taking Healing Touch classes and completed all 5 levels through Healing Beyond Borders and in 2018 became a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner.
Healing with foods was also a huge part of my healing journey and especially after my diagnosis of prolactinoma and lactose Intolerance and my partner’s diagnosis of Gluten Allergy, I became even more acutely aware of foods being used as medicine. It was quite obvious, too, that those patients of mine going through cancer treatments wanted to know more about healing herbs and how herbs could play a role in their journey to wellness. I dove into the physical and energetic principles of healing with herbs through independent study and also took a Clinical Herbalism course to deepen my understanding. As the Pandemic hit in 2020, more and more patients and friends were asking me about herbal supplements and formularies that they could use to strengthen and fortify their immune systems and remain healthy. I loved being able to answer their questions and fuel their excitement over using whole plants in their diets and medicine cabinets instead of turning to big pharma meds. As a Registered Nurse of 14 years, I totally understand the importance of some of the big pharma meds and I bow down to some of the life-changing medicines that came from them such as antibiotics, steroids, pain meds, etc. However, I think the shift needs to be on preventative medicines and foods and lifestyle changes, instead of reacting to an already-present disease state.
And this is where Brahmaloka Healing Arts LLC was born! I’ve been fantasizing over this moment for almost a decade, knowing that one day I’d run my own business and it would be one that empowers people (and this planet!) to heal through a more holistic and sustainable approach. I had to first show up for myself and learn to live in accordance with this new lens before offering my knowledge to the world. And like I said before, it’s an ongoing process! I love to learn and wish to share whatever it is that I learn with you all!
With all that being said, I am truly grateful for you all– the Readers and Clients– for being here today and showing up for yourselves in this crazy and beautiful world!
Love and Gratitude,
Lauren
