As someone who has struggled with various health issues for most of my life, I never would have imagined that something as simple as mushrooms could be the catalyst to my recovery. But after being diagnosed with a pituitary tumor in 2014 and struggling with a number of other health issues, medicinal mushrooms have become an integral part of my healing journey.

It all started in 2013 when I began experiencing intense headaches, visual changes, personality changes, fatigue, amenorrhea, and weight loss. After months of tests, scans, and doctor visits, I was finally diagnosed with a pituitary tumor. My doctors recommended medications and surgery, but I was hesitant to go under the knife. I did, however, take the medications they ordered but soon the medications led to even more health issues: gastritis and esophagitis, intense nausea, and chronic constipation. I knew something had to change, or else I’d die. It sounds pretty crazy to say that now, especially since I was only 26 at the time…but I was very ill and felt like death was near if I continued on like that. It was the first time I felt like the traditional western medical system failed me. So, I began researching alternative treatments and stumbled upon the world of medicinal mushrooms.

At first, I was skeptical. How could something as simple as a mushroom have any real impact on my health? In the Western society, I was brought up to dislike mushrooms and didn’t think that mushrooms were safe either… but as I delved deeper into the research, I was amazed by what I discovered and couldn’t help but be curious…

Medicinal mushrooms are known for their powerful immune-boosting properties, and many studies have shown that they can help to fight cancer, lower inflammation, and support overall health and wellness. Some of the most powerful medicinal mushrooms include reishi, chaga, shitake, maitake, cordyceps, lion's mane, agaricus, and turkey tail.

I began incorporating these mushrooms into my daily routine, taking about 18 grams of powdered mushrooms divided into 6 grams at a time taken in morning, afternoon, and evening doses. I’d mix the powder in my smoothies and take it in pill form. And over time, I began to notice a real difference in my health. My headaches began to subside, my energy levels improved, I started gaining weight, and I just felt better overall. My doctors were surprised by my recovery and stated that whatever I was doing, to continue doing that, and the MRI’s of my brain showed tumor shrinkage with me just taking the mushrooms!

But that's not all - I also found that medicinal mushrooms helped with a number of other health issues I was dealing with. For example, lion's mane helped to improve my cognitive function, while cordyceps helped to improve my physical performance and energy levels. And when I began to struggle with anxiety and depression, reishi helped to calm my nerves and improve my mood.

Today, I continue to incorporate various medicinal mushrooms into my daily routine, and I credit them with being one of the first and most important steps toward my recovery. While I still struggle with health issues from time to time, I feel empowered knowing that I have a natural and effective way to support my body and promote healing.

If you're dealing with health issues of your own, I encourage you to give medicinal mushrooms a try. They can certainly be a powerful tool in your healing arsenal! Just be sure to do your research and work with a qualified healthcare provider and herbalist to determine the best approach for your unique needs.
