Summer Solstice Rituals & Herbs
Shining Bright— & Staying Grounded
Hi beautiful soul,
I’m Lauren, the heart behind Brahmaloka Healing Arts, and I’m still buzzing from the light-storm we just rode through on June 20th. If you felt equal parts exhilarated, restless, and maybe even a tad frazzled—same! Midsummer always cranks up the volume, but this year’s Solstice felt like someone pointed a cosmic spotlight at every corner of our lives.
Below is a gentle, real-time field guide I created for you (and honestly, for me too). Think of it as a midsummer care package: a few bite-sized rituals, my favorite “Sun herbs,” and a signature practice to keep your inner fire glowing without turning into a wildfire. No politics, no doom-scrolling—just practical magic, rooted in heart and soil.
1. Why Midsummer Matters in Your Body & Spirit
-
Longest light = maximum voltage. We’re wired to soak it up—hello serotonin, hello vibrant creative drive. But too much Yang can fry our circuits.
-
Subtle pivot toward dusk. Even as we dance in peak daylight, the Sun has begun its slow journey home. Nature reminds us: brilliance and rest belong together.
-
A call to conscious shining. What do you want to illuminate? And where could a little shade, water, and cool ground bring balance?
Soul prompt: Grab your journal. Finish these two lines—
“This summer, my light wants to shine on …”
“To keep it sustainable, I will rest by …”
2. Quick Rituals When Energy Spikes
(Pick one or weave them together. Five to ten minutes each—because magic shouldn’t require a three-hour production schedule.)
Sunrise Breath & Intent
-
Step outside (bare feet if the earth’s warm enough).
-
Inhale for 6, hold 3, exhale 9—Lauren's signature reset breath. 639 is a frequency of love and connection, often paired with the heart chakra.
-
Whisper: “I welcome clarity, courage, and calm.”
-
Write one brave action + one delicious rest note for today.
Solar Water Elixir
What it is: spring water, thin lemon slices, a palmful of fresh calendula or chamomile petals, clear jar.
What you do: set it in full sun for two to three hours, strain, refrigerate. Sip whenever you need liquid optimism.
Candle-Fire Release
What you need: a small candle, pinch of dried lavender or mugwort.
How to do it: Light the candle at dusk. Breathe in any tension, name it silently, drop the herb into the flame, exhale. Watch the smoke carry it away. Snuff the candle with gratitude.
Solar Plexus Reiki Sweep
Hover your palms two inches above your navel. Sweep upward to the heart three times, envisioning dense emotion lifting out and golden light flowing in. Seal by tapping your sternum: tap-tap-tap. Done.
3. Herbal Allies of High Summer
(These plants bask in full sun and steady frayed nerves. As always—check contraindications if pregnant, nursing, or on meds.)
Herb | Vibe & Benefit | Easiest Way to Work With It |
---|---|---|
St. John’s Wort | Solar-charged mood lifter, gentle nerve balm, energetic shield. | Infuse fresh blossoms in olive oil on a sunny sill for 4 weeks → ruby red massage oil for achy muscles & frazzled emotions. |
Calendula | Liquid sunshine for lymph, skin, and stuck joy. | Toss 2 Tbsp dried petals into bathwater. Soak, sweat, smile. |
Chamomile | Soft calm for gut & mind; daisy faces mirror the Sun. | Strong tea at night—inhale steam, sip slowly, dream sweeter. |
Lavender | Balances fiery moods, clears mental clutter. | Simmer a handful in water, cool, bottle → aura & room mist. |
Lemon Balm | Brights a heavy heart, gently antiviral, connects solar plexus + heart chakras. | Muddle fresh leaves into sparkling water for a midday reset. |
Nettles | Mineral-rich, adrenal-loving, boundaries-reinforcing (that sting teaches respect!). | Keep rolling with our #NettleWithLauren tea challenge (it is officially over but you can still continue like Lauren is doing...—1–2 cups daily) |
4. Signature Practice: Solar Shield & Shine
(Twenty delicious minutes. Perfect solo or with a kindred spirit.)
-
Gather
• 1 tsp each dried St. John’s Wort, calendula, lemon balm
• Heat-proof bowl, cup of freshly boiled water, small candle -
Invoke
Stand in sunlight or before your candle. Say aloud:
“As the Sun stands sovereign in the sky, may my own Light stand sovereign within—bright yet balanced, radiant yet rooted.” -
Infuse & Anoint
Pour water over the herbs; cover five minutes. Strain into a smaller bowl. Dip fingertips, touch crown, third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral, root—whispering at each point: “I shine; I am safe.” -
Ground & Sip
Offer the spent herbs back to the soil. Place hands on the earth (or floor), feel excess heat drain down. Sip the warm tea slowly. Notice the steadiness.
